To help you set up your add VAT services to your Government Gateway account, we’ve put together the following step-by-step guide.
1. To access the relevant page with the HMRC, press the following link.
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/sign-in-to-your-hmrc-business-tax-account
Scroll down and press the "Start now >" button.

You will be asked to sign into your Government Gateway account.
2. Once you have signed into your account, the following screen will appear. Please select 'get online access to a tax, duty or scheme.'
3. To continue adding VAT services to your Government Gateway account, please click “Add a tax, duty or scheme now >”.

4. Select 'VAT and VAT services, for example EC Sales List' and press “Continue”.
5. Select 'VAT' and press “Continue”.
6. Select 'Yes' and press “Continue”.
7. Add your VAT number into the highlighted box displayed and press “Continue”.
8. Add your VAT registration date into the highlighted box displayed and press “Continue”.
9. Add the postcode related to your registered business to the highlighted box displayed and press “Continue”.
10. Select 'No' and press “Continue”.
11. Please review the summary screen with all of your answers. If all the details are correct, press “Continue”.
If any details are incorrect, please press 'Change'.
12. You will now receive confirmation that VAT has been added to your business tax account. To be redirected to your 'Business tax account'. the screen press “Continue”.
