First, head to the HMRC log in page
1. Click the green "Sign in" button
2. Click “Create sign in details” below the green 'Sign in' button
3. Enter your email address when prompted, then click 'Continue'
4. You’ll receive a confirmation code by email. Enter this code to confirm your email address, then click “Confirm”
5. Your email address is now confirmed. Click “Continue” to proceed
6. Enter your full name (including any middle names), then press 'Continue'
7. Create a password. Keep it safe, as you’ll need it later to make us your VAT Agent. Once done, click 'Continue'. Please note - We will never ask you for your password or your Government Gateway User ID
8. You will be issued a user ID for your Government Gateway account. Make sure to note this down, then press 'Continue'
9. Next, set up your additional security by clicking 'Continue'
10. Choose how you want to receive your access code. We recommend “Text message”, but you may select whichever method suits you best. Click 'Continue'”.
11. Confirm whether you are adding a UK mobile number and press 'Continue'
12. Enter your mobile number and click 'Send access code'
13. You’ll receive a 6-digit access code via text message. Enter this code into the box shown and click 'Continue'
14. Once completed, you’ll see a confirmation screen showing that your additional security setup is done. Click 'Continue' to access your Government Gateway account
